The Two Chorales from Dalecarlia for organ, Op.17 (1994), are based on two ancient folk-melodies from Malung and Mora in Dalecardia.
No. 1, Kom helge Ande till mig in (Come upon Me Holy Sprit) is originally a richly ornamented second half of the melody is developed in canon form. The piece begins and ends in a meditative mood, which is not descriptive but is inspired by the the northern lights and the cold of midwinter which I experienced at my grandmother´s house bt a remote, beautiful lake in the Swedish province of Värmland.
In No.2, I denna ljuva sommartid (In This Lovely Summertime), spontaneous, naïve-sounding trills and motifs that might be associated with birdsong characterize mmy own orginal thematic material before the melody appears in the tenor.
