This performance of Rhythm Cordia took place as part of an Octocelli concert for Kalamazoo's 40th Annual New Year's Fest at the First Congregational Church, 12/31/25.

Rhythm Cordia began as a combination of the need to add ‘one more piece’ to a solo cello recital program, and from the tendency to desire improvisational breaks from practicing Bach’s Third Cello Suite! The best elements from these improvisational excursions were gathered to create the first movement. Long-standing roots in folk music, guitar playing techniques, and a love of percussive elements, continue to find its way into my cello compositions. Two more movements are in the works, to be completed, and premiered with ‘Octocelli’, in a cello ensemble performance, in 2019. I plan to foster the same improvisational ‘hands on’ approach, as I work to compose the final two movements.
