The countries of the South face a colossal financial challenge: $2,000 billion a year between now and 2030 is needed to finance the energy transition, climate adaptation and sustainable development. However, current commitments are far from sufficient. The World Bank has achieved record climate financing of $42.6 billion in 2024, but the gap remains immense.
