After US President Donald Trump, China has claimed that it played a role as a mediator in easing tensions between India and Pakistan. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi described Beijing as a peace negotiator, not only for the India-Pakistan conflict but also for other international disputes, including tensions in northern Myanmar, between Cambodia and Thailand, and the Iranian nuclear issue.
China’s statement comes despite New Delhi’s repeated rejection of any third-party intervention in the bilateral conflict. Wang Yi highlighted China’s role as a facilitator for dialogue and resolution in these disputes, projecting Beijing as an active player in global peace efforts.
