Do I Lose my Salvation Because of Sexual Sin? // Conrad Mbewe

Welcome to The Pastors Studio. In today's episode Pastor Conrad Mbewe interrogates the scriptures to answer this important question: can sexual sin can cause us to lose our salvation?

Because of Christ Your Salvation is Assured

"A first understanding of salvation is that it is solely on the basis of the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. And for me to prove that to you, we will look at Romans chapter 3 and verse 21 to verse 21 (Romans 3, 21-24)

"The point there is it is Jesus who paid the price for our sin. Redemption means buying back and we were bought back by the blood that Jesus shed on the cross. That's the basis by which we are reconciled to God. It is through grace and through grace alone."

"Now, therefore, Christians are saved purely on the merits of God's own son. It is not related in any way to any works of obedience. Zero. It's got nothing to do with that. So to the question. Therefore, if I sin, whatever the sin might be, do I therefore lose my salvation? Am I no longer a Christian? The answer is, “no”, because let's face it we all sin and we sin every day in different ways.

So... can I Sin as Much as I Like?

"In Romans 3, 31 Paul writes “Do we then overthrow the law by this faith?” In other words it doesn't matter - we don't need to obey? His answer is, “By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.” The point that Paul is making here is this, that God's work of salvation is in two lines. The first is our justification; our forgiveness. It is hundred percent based on the work of Christ on the cross, his death. The second is the regenerating work of the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit Helps us to Hate Sin

The Spirit of God transforms us from the inside out and gives us a love for God. An obedience for God. A commitment to become like Jesus Christ. We pursue Holiness. So if Jesus has saved you, you will hate every sin, including the sin of sexual immorality.

You will not want to live in it and that becomes the proof that he has saved you. Yes, you may fall into it, but you will do everything in your power never to go that way again. And that's the second answer to that question... you will not want to live that life of sin because Jesus changes our hearts as well."
