This is the second of three seminars, "Structure: From Technology to Society," presented by Antoine Picon, 2011-2012 Clarkson Chair in Architecture, University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning on April 3, 2012.

Antoine Picon is the G. Ware Travelstead Professor of the History of Architecture and Technology and Co-Director of Doctoral Programs at Harvard Graduate School of Design. He also holds a research position at the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees. He has published numerous books and articles primarily dealing with the complementary histories of architecture and urban technology from the eighteenth century to the present. His most recent book, Digital Culture in Architecture (2010), proposes a comprehensive interpretation of the changes brought by the computer to the theory and practice of architecture.

The Department of Architecture, University at Buffalo, was pleased to award Antoine Picon the 2011-2012 Clarkson Chair in Architecture. The Clarkson Visiting Chair is an endowed visiting position granted semiannually to a distinguished scholar or professional in the disciplines of architecture, planning, and design. This award is in recognition of excellence in the pursuit of scholarship and professional application within these fields and is made possible by the generous support of Will and Nan Clarkson.
