MCCF’s Mike Thalhauser and Pat Shepard demonstrating the purse seine used by Bagaduce River communities to estimate abundance and health of juvenile alewives. Tying these data with run counts conducted by local managers is informing science and managers in river herring understanding and management. We work with community partners, researchers, and managers at the state and federal level. MCCF is happy to say that co-management of river herring in the state of Maine is moving the ball forward!
