Sinus Tachycardia, ECG Interpretation for Nurses

In this lesson, we will discuss the common conditions that lead to a faster than normal heart rate. Recall the normal heart rate is 60 to 100 for adults. In sinus tachycardia, we have a heart rate that is greater than 100 beats per minute; and usually falls between 100 and 150.

At the end of this lesson, you should be able to:

Identify physiological and nonphysiological factors that can result in a sinus tachycardia
Define the features of a sinus tachycardia
Compare and contrast sinus tachycardia to normal sinus rhythm
Identify treatment options of stable and unstable sinus tachycardia
