The Temptations - Get Ready (58th Anniversary)

Описание к видео The Temptations - Get Ready (58th Anniversary)

We're celebrating the anniversary of the release of The Tempts hit song "Get Ready!" It was released on February 7, 1966 for the album "Gettin' Ready." Written and produced by Smokey Robinson, the song made it to number one of the Billboard R&B charts and number 29 on the Billboard Pop charts. This was also the last song Smokey produced as a released single for The Tempts as Norman Whitfield took over after he and Smokey had a bet against each other of who would have The Tempts' next best ranking release on the Billboard Pop charts. Norman won with "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," which charted at number 13.

We all know and love the song that features Eddie's beautiful high tenor, but it's also known for it's fun and peppy choreography! Otis tells the story of how The Tempts got the choreography done. They were on a plane to go perform on American Bandstand when they were told they'd be performing their new hit "Get Ready." Four of The Tempts were worried because they didn't have choreography for it yet, but Mr. Paul Williams said "don't worry fellas, I got this." So after they landed and checked into their hotel room, Paul created the famous routine we all love today. And he did it in about 30 minutes! That's the magic of Paul! And it's also cool to mention that he changed the choreo a few times throughout the years. The last version you can see on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1971 during their last TV appearance with Paul and Eddie.

I hope you enjoy the edit I made!
