The Zigeunerwagen (gypsy caravan) Festival is a touring festival going around the city of Cologne to celebrate the 75th day of commemoration in memory of the Himmler decree for the destruction of all Gypsies in the Nazi concentration camps.
For those who have survived the concentration camps, it is an important symbolic act that such a Gypsy caravan, which was indeed the basis of life of the respective Gypsy families, finds its way back to its rightful owners in the north of Cologne. To celebrate this return, the Cologne Gypsy Community, leaded by the famous Reinhardt family (worldwide known by exceptional guitarist Django Reinhardt), is organizing festivals throughout the city to invite all citizens of Cologne to participate in this historic event.
