A pre Gate shutdown design, deployed at the height of the Republic’s expansion from their homeworld, and out into the larger Hegira Galaxy, being used a border patrol craft and escorts for larger vessels. The Mercurius was the first ship under a collective effort by the early united Republic to create a centralized military in space, over the years however, it has gradually became outdated, even with attempts to upgrade the weapons and thrusters to modern standards.
