LibraryJams at LAPA: Urban Village

Our LibraryJams moved out of their homebase at the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg for the first time! They found a home at LAPA in Brixton, a new communal arts space by the Goethe-Institut and VANSA. It only made sense to have Urban Village as the first act, as the band's music is so deeply rooted in community as well. Four guys from Soweto with a shared love for local music, inspired by history, experimenting and growing together. 'Udondolo', their debut album, is an excellent example of South African music, as the sound is built on the many cultural influences of their home "village" of Soweto.
