OCTV #30: INTERNATIONAL MUSICAL ARTIST, RAGHAV

Multi-award winning musical artist, Raghav is an international phenomenon, being amongst the very few South Asian artists who have had incredible success in India, England & Canada, with both Hindi and English language songs to his credit.

He dove onto the scene in India and England in 2004 with his debut album ’Storyteller’ which sold a staggering 1.6 million albums garnering a string of successful singles such as the indelible “Angel Eyes” for which he has become synonymous for. His sophomore album, ‘Identity’ followed, further legitimizing that he was here to stay, but 2012 saw a major shift in Raghav’s sound with the release of his third album, ’The Phoenix’ which was a far cry from the soft melodious sounds of ’Storyteller’ and ‘Identity’. This album established him in a different genre of music - R&B pop, where he had a string of major hits in the Canadian mainstream music scene with the likes of “So Much”, “Fire’ (gold certified) & “Top Of The World”.

Raghav has recently ventured into Bollywood territory working with his hero AR Rahman on such hit songs as “Ishq Shava”, and intends on releasing an album for the American market next.

I had the opportunity to sit and chat with ANOKHI award alumni, Raghav ('S&S ANOKHI Award' for 'Artist of the Year, 2011’) , where he reminisced about his decade long success, his opinions on the state of the music scene, and what exciting things he has planned for the future of Raghav “making history” (his words).
