In 2019 the cutting edge SETI program Breakthrough Listen heard something strange coming from the star closest to us, Proxima Centauri.

Usually these abnormal radio signals are quickly dismissed as human interference, but over a year later scientists were still studying this one in secret, until one of them leaked the existence to The Guardian on Dec 18th 2020.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, Breakthrough Listen scientists are quick to state that human interference has yet to be ruled out.... but all signs seem to point to an extraterrestrial origin.
