The Ball Engineer II Magnetos S is a true Rolex Milgauss rival from a brand you never expected: Ball Watch. The Engineer 2 Magneto S launched at Baselworld 2014 as a one of the most engaging simple automatic watches of that model year. Proprietary technologies include Ball Spring Lock, Ball A-Proof, and Ball tritium trasor dial luminescence.

Ball SpringLock is a technology that captures the hairspring of the movement and limits its degrees of motion when subjected to shocks of up to 5,000g. Incabloc shock protection prevents damage to the balance staff; Ball SpringLock prevents excess hairspring rebound that can significantly affect watch precision when subjected to violent activities such as drumming, tennis, batting, or golf.

Ball A-Proof antimagnetic technology uses mumetal, a paramagnetic alloy of nickel, copper, mollybendum, and iron. The material is designed to conduct magnetic fields around the vulnerable hairspring and escapement of the watch. On the all Engineer 2 Magneto S, Ball employs an iris-style deployable diaphragm that can be retracted for a view of the automatic movement or deployed to shield the caliber from magnetic flux. The protection afforded by Ball A-Proof amounts to 80,000 amperes per meter or the equivalent of one Gauss as with the Rolex Milgauss.

Ball Tritium Trasor (H3 Microtec tubes) are glass tubes that cover the hands and indices of Ball watch dials. These self-contained light sources use beta-ray emitting tritium to activate luminescent gas elements contained within the glass tubes. These ensure that the watch glows in the dark regardless of whether is has been "charged" by light.

Finally, the Ball Engineer II Magneto S includes both 100-meter water resistance and an automatic mechanical Swiss movement, the Ball RR-1102 (Sellita SW-200) in COSC certified Swiss chronometer grade. The watch includes a 38-hour power reserve, stop seconds (hacking seconds), and a quickset date feature.

The Ball Engineer II Magneto S features a 42mm stainless steel case surrounding a black dial on a black fabric strap with a stainless steel tang buckle. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, and date. The watch also measures 14.4mm in thickness and 49.3mm from lug-to-lug.
