Forest Elephants meet on clearings deep in the Jungle of the Congo Basin, called Bai to mine for minerals from the ground. They dig holes and pump out the muddy water full of salt and minerals which are rare to find otherwise. But those bais are also social meeting points for them, as they usually live in much smaller groups scattererd far away in the deep jungle than the Savannah Elephant. They meet relatives from far away, the young ones learn to socialize and play with other young ones, bulls look out for possible females for mating partners, sometimes fight with other bulls for hierachy and the right to choose the best salt hole - it is a look into the daily life and behaviour of the rare Forest Elephant. You can hear their sounds of joy when they trumpet for fun - or to warn others not to take their favourite salt mine.
Watch a Western Lowland Gorilla family during their search of food, wether it is fruits up in the trees, protein rich termite lava or simply leaves. Females sleep high up in their canopy nests while the mighty silver back protects his family. It is impressive when a massive 200+ kg giant climbs up and down the trees or even thin liana. When theyhad enough food they take a well deserved rest deep in the green heart of Central Africa.
