There are a few reasons why I chose MailChimp for my email marketing and why I'm doing this MailChimp Review.

Yes, there are a lot of programs on the market today, but I've always believed that if you are going to do something and spend any amount of time doing it, you should enjoy it.
In case you are curious, yes, I've used AWeber, iContact, and many other programs prior to making the leap.
What I've realized along the way is that each email marketing program has it's very own positives and negatives. For instance, if you want to be an Affiliate Marketer and send campaigns promoting other peoples products online, the choice for me would be to lean back towards AWeber. Yes, they tend to be my preferred go to guys if I am aimed at building a list to market to directly.
The reasons I chose MailChimp have a lot to do with functionality, usability, design, and being able to create a more 'personal' touch in my marketing which I believe is important these days. I've never been someone to follow along with the pack. I believe that when we are building our businesses online, we all have unique designs, needs, and accessibility that we have to implement.
Open API : A Heavy Positive When Doing My MailChimp Review
When I was doing my MailChimp Review and truly wanting to know about choosing a program that best fit my business model, I wanted to know how it worked. The reason why I chose MailChimp had a lot to do with the fact that they have an Open API (Application-Programming Interface). I could go into the geektacular stuff here, but you really need to know that it just allows one program to talk to another. Yup, pretty neat stuff actually for many reasons. You can get a better idea of API's on HowStuffWorks.com which is actually really good to know if you are just starting out online.
When I was doing my MailChimp Review I didn't want to just move to a program because they have a nice looking logo, are easy to work with, and tend to be more fun to work with than other programs. Nope, I wanted something that was going to allow me to 'easily grow' my business here online and we truly had to think a lot about this prior to making the move here at OnlineMarketingMentors.com because we knew we'd get a lot of questions about this.
Things this API allows you to do with your business (the short list...not complete list):
Automate Sign Ups - Things like being able to move from your website membership to your targeted list automatically. Yes, MailChimp works great with programs like eMember, WP-Member, s2Member, and a countless list of many many more. For me, this is important when considering time, ease, and automation. I want to grow a business and have it help me along the way with the technologies available online.
CRM Solutions With Ease - I have to be aware that not everyone is going to be utilizing a CRM system in their business when they are just getting started online, but as you begin to grow you are certainly going to want to know more about the people you connect with and the businesses that you work with as well. MailChimp tends to be best suited for working with CRM's and in a lot of cases is the only available option unless you are wanting to hire someone to write special code for you for your email application. I didn't want to hire out something that was already in place with MailChimp, which is again, why I chose MailChimp.
Simplicity of Design - Currently programs like aWeber are working on improving their design aspects as well, but MailChimp tends to be the leader here. They've been working from the ground up since day one and it's obvious that they've had a clearer focus on 'non techies' because things are really easy to make look really nice. May not be a big issue for a lot of people, but I truly believe that a company that thinks forward is a company that has my business growth in mind as well.
Fun To Use - Writing this I already know that a lot of people are going to give me a bit of flack for saying I chose MailChimp because it was fun. Truth is, I spend a lot of time online and it's nice to actually work with something that's enjoyable at times...and working with this program truly is enjoyable and has personality coded into its roots. If you want to give the program a try just to see what I'm talking about a bit you can check it out here: MailChimp's Site
