Autism and learning disabilities affect millions of children in India yet remain one of the most under-recognized public health challenges. Estimates suggest nearly one in a hundred children may be on the autism spectrum, with learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities affecting millions more. Despite this, many children go undiagnosed, excluded from schools, or denied proper support due to stigma, lack of awareness, and limited resources. Understanding, who is affected and why the system struggles to support them, is key to building a more inclusive future.
