Eslite Xinyi 信義誠品店 opened in 2006 in one of Taipei's most bustling districts, bringing in locals as well as visitors from all over the world. Open 24 hours and boasting floor after floor of whatever you can imagine - clothing, home goods, jewelry, skincare, furniture, restaurants, stationery, gifts, and (of course) books, it became a cultural icon and a one-stop shop for people of all ages and occupations.

It finally closed on December 24, 2023, after they were unable to renew the lease with their landlord. Tens of thousands came to bid farewell.

The bookstore has always held a special place in my heart. Since childhood, I would spend hours perusing all the shops, searching for random little knick knacks, struggling to read through beginning pages of books written entirely in Chinese, picking out colorful pens and notebooks in the stationery sections, bumbling about and staring in fascination at the generous offerings of the food court on B2.

This vlog is a tribute to that - the bookstore that was my safe haven, my dream come true.
