A simple home prayer to Lord Muruga following a traditional format. The prayer can be performed by anyone in their home shrines daily or on auspicious days. For the worship you will need:

A picture or Murthi (statue) of Lord Muruga
A bell
Incense/ Sambrani
An oil lamp
Camphor
A small plate with rice
Fruits or simple food items for offering (this can be very simple to very elaborate)
A Thirtha cup or bowl filled with water and a small spoon.
Flowers
A small cup in which to drop the water when offering
Vibhuti, Chandanam and Kunkumam

Rules to be observed:

You have to observe a vegetarian diet to do the Pujai
You have to take a bath and wear clean traditional clothes
Prepare the mind by listening to devotional music and songs while preparing for the worship
This worship is to be done only in the home and for oneself or one's immediate family
