Article 27 of UCPDC 600 – Clean Transport Document

1. Clean Document = No Adverse Clauses

A clean transport document means it does not contain any clause or notation that:
• Explicitly declares the goods are damaged
• States the packaging is defective
• Mentions any irregularities

2. What Is Still Considered Clean?
• If the document is silent (i.e., does not mention the condition of goods) → It is considered clean by default.
• Clauses like “received in apparent good order and condition” are acceptable.

3. Banks Do Not Judge Physical Condition
• Banks only check for notations on the document, not the actual condition of goods.
• They will reject any document that explicitly mentions damage.
