'Golpodidi Tania' brings to you Rabindranath Tagore's short story 'Streer Patro'.

Streer Patro (A Wife's Letter) is a well-known short story written by Rabindranath Tagore. It has been adopted as movie like 'Iti Mrinlini'. The story beautifully portrays how women were treated in wealthy, upper-cast society of British time Bengal. The story is spoken as a letter of Mrinal to her husband after she left her husband's house. Unlike women of her time, Mrinal was self-respectful and conscious about everything happening around her. She couldn't concede what happened to Bindu, a poor girl in the family. Bindu was unfairly treated in the family after she came to stay with them. She was forcibly married to a mentally challenged person and finally, she had to choose suicide. This letter is a protest against what happened to Bindu, a bold statement in the 19th-century Bengali society, that largely deprived women in all fronts of life.
