I finally got the opportunity to drive Mahindra's latest electric SUVs - BE 6e and XEV 9e - in and around Chennai and the Indian manufacturer's testing facility on the outskirts of Chennai. Just so you know, both the vehicles are based on the company's born EV architecture - InGlo - and both share several components underneath including battery packs and motor. At the launch, the customers will have options to choose from either 59kWh or 79kWh battery packs - both sourced from BYD. Though the motor, sourced from VW, will be same for both albeit with different state of tunes for 59kWh and 79kWh variants. The ones we tested featured 79kWh battery packs and a 280hp, 380Nm producing motor delivering power to the rear wheels of both the cars. While the cars are impressive, there are a few misses that we hope will be ironed out once it goes on sale.
