Apalachee High School in Barrow County is on a hard lockdown on Wednesday morning after reports of gunfire at the school, the district said.

Students are being released to parents and guardians, the district told 11Alive at 11:33 a.m.

Details about what happened remain limited as of 11:30 a.m. The 11Alive SkyTracker flew over the school, where many law enforcement, fire and ambulance vehicles were visible. Students could be seen assembling at the football field.
