A freelance writer and adventurer, Adrienne Murphy has matched her rebellious streak with incisive investigation into matters cultural, political and environmental, writing hundreds of features for Hot Press across two decades, alongside The Irish Times, Irish Independent, Source Magazine and more.

Adrienne rose to national prominence in the late 1990s as one of the ‘tree people’ at the Glen of the Downs anti-roads campaign, and then as one of the ‘Monsanto 6’, a group of activists who went on trial for sabotaging Monsanto’s first GM sugar-beet test in Ireland. She wrote extensively about both issues in Hot Press.

Adrienne’s recent work includes moving accounts of her experience as the parent of a severely autistic child, and the most comprehensive journalistic investigation into water fluoridation in the world. Alongside her investigative work, Adrienne has conducted confessional interviews with Damien Dempsey, Sinéad O’Connor, Conor O’Brien from Villagers and many other musicians.
