United States Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has triggered widespread criticism across Arab and Muslim nations after suggesting Israel has a right to expand its territory across a large swath of the Middle East.

Huckabee made the remarks during an interview with commentator Tucker Carlson, where he was questioned about Israel’s geographical borders. Invoking biblical texts, Huckabee said it would be “fine if they took it all,” referring to territorial claims.

The comments drew swift backlash from Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, as well as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States. In separate statements, they described the remarks as “extremist,” “provocative,” and inconsistent with Washington’s official position.

Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry called the comments “extremist rhetoric” and urged the United States Department of State to clarify the official stance.

Huckabee, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, later appeared to soften his remarks, describing them as “somewhat hyperbolic.”

The episode has added fresh strain to already sensitive regional dynamics amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
