Ukraine has just unveiled the Long Neptune, a new long-range missile with a one-thousand-kilometer range, nicknamed the “Moscow Killer.” This powerful weapon could change the course of the war by giving Kiev the ability to strike deep inside Russia, even reaching Moscow, Volgograd, and Nizhny Novgorod.

The story of the Neptune missile began in two thousand fifteen, when the R-360 was first presented in Kiev. It entered service in two thousand twenty-one and gained fame in two thousand twenty-two after sinking the Russian cruiser Moskva. Later, Ukraine modified it into a land-attack version, striking Russian air defense systems and infrastructure. But its range—only three hundred kilometers—was limiting.

That limitation is now gone. The Long Neptune is longer, wider, and more powerful, capable of traveling four times farther than Storm Shadow and ATACMS missiles. It places countless Russian refineries, factories, rail hubs, and command posts within range. Zelensky has already confirmed that it has been used in combat, hitting critical Russian oil facilities.

Unlike NATO-supplied weapons, the Long Neptune is Ukrainian-made, free of restrictions, and can be produced in large numbers. This independence empowers Ukraine to strike whenever and wherever it chooses. With over a million Russian casualties, economic collapse, and growing unrest, the Long Neptune could bring the war directly to Putin’s doorstep.
