Women of Tibet: Meet Dechen Lhamo, first Tibetan woman to scale Mt. Everest twice from both sides

Dechen Lhamo is a mountaineer and former Special Frontier Force member who scaled Mount Everest twice, from both the South Side (Nepal) and the North Side (Tibet). Lhamo, who now resides in Hunsur, fled Tibet for India and studied at TCV Suja before enlisting in the Special Paramilitary Force of the Indian Army. She summited several mountains in India before climbing Mount Everest twice, in 2005 and 2008. Her achievements earned accolades from both the Indian government and the Tibetan government-in-exile.
