The American Civil War was easily one of the darkest and saddest periods in the nation's history. The conflict that split the country in two saw combat and carnage on an unprecedented scale, culminating in thousands of casualties and anguish beyond words. And from that suffering emerged some of the most unsettling and most intriguing ghost stories ever told. Grim tales of the mournful shades who were killed in action, leaders whose choices cursed them, and ghost soldiers doomed to replay the battles that took their lives.
