Neutralization

An acid when reacts with base produces salt and water. The reaction is called neutralization reaction. These reactions are generally exothermic in nature. The common example for a neutralization reaction of highly exothermic nature is the reaction of sodium hydrogen carbonate (a base) with vinegar (acid), also called acetic acid.
