"We have member states in the European Union, in the Baltic states, where it is not easy to organise a gay parade. We have to fight for that the member states of the European Union accept what the European Union is giving as a right, namely being against discrimination. This every member state must accept."

STORYLINE
Paris celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Gay Pride march on Saturday, while in Germany revellers held their annual Christopher Street Day parade.
In the French capital, revellers and participants reacted positively to news that New York had become the sixth and largest state in the US to legalise gay marriage.
In France, gay marriage is still illegal, but at the parade there was hope that this might one day change.
"We're already so far behind so it would be good if it comes to France. If it's possible even in England, then why not in France?" said participant Martial Letoullec.
Revellers at the Berlin parade were due to sign a petition against homophobia in sports, one day before the start of Women's football World Cup.
According to the organisers, there is still a lack of acceptance of sexual diversity in football and other sports.
Berlin's gay mayor, Klaus Wowereit, also urged greater acceptance of diversity in the European Union, notably among newer and future EU members in the Balkans and Baltics.
More than 500-thousand people were expected to take part in the Berlin event, which each year honours the first uprising of homosexuals and other minorities against police assaults that took place in New York's Christopher Street, in Greenwich Village, on 27 June 1969.
This year's parade was the 33rd annual CSD festival to call for acceptance of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals.
