Some Key Points of Video
Basic Terminologies
1) Road : Any harden and stable surface which carry traffic movement.
2) Pavement :- When road construct in number of layers.
3) Highway :- Special category of road which allows high speed moving vehicles.
4) Expressway :- Special category of road which connect origin to destination with superior facilities.

Road Development and Planning
1) Roman Roads:-
Straight Road - No gradient
Thickness - 0.75 to 1.2m
Soft soil removed go to hard strata.

Major Drawbacks
Uneconomical
Drainage problem

2) Tresaguet Construction:-
Developed an improved method of construction of road in France by the year 1764 .
Shoulder Slope :- 1 in 20

3) Metcalf Construction

4) Telford Construction:-
Cross Slope :- 1 in 45

5) Macadem Construction:-
John Macadam ( 1756 - 1836 ) bring new method of road construction compared to previous previous methods.
Thickness : - 250mm
