We live on a small island state, and as any civilized space, we are made up of systems. These systems are made up of institutions, and institutions are made up of individuals. In the pursuit of real development, not development that is manipulated by adjusting monitoring models on paper but development that is measured by lived experiences.

To achieve this, one must consider human development, which is measured by the human development index, and systems development. Both of which are guided by my ideas. In a 2013 United Nations report written by Frances Stewart titled Capabilities and Human Development—Beyond the individual, the critical role of social institutions and Social Competencies, it stated that,

“Individuals cannot flourish alone: indeed, they cannot function alone. When they are born, the family provides their life support. In turn, families cannot function independently of the societies in which they are located. Being a member of a family, of a locality, and of the larger society is an essential component of a flourishing existence. Since these groupings can provide good or bad conditions for the individual, it is not only their existence but also their nature that is relevant to human development. Thus, a major task of the human development approach—which aims to assess human progress and identify the conditions for human flourishing—is to explore the nature of social institutions that are favorable for human flourishing, as opposed to those that impede it.

Individual human flourishing is not without societal flourishing as well. Therefore, investigating ideas that explain what it means to be human. Like, are we deterministic in our behavior, or are we free-choosing autonomous individuals? It is necessary to get the sweet spot between individual and collective. All of which will be explained to later episodes.

When speaking about human development, we must consider the importance of belief. Ideas around intelligence, motivation, physical health, food and nutrition. We will try to answer what ideas create a productive individual.

We must also investigate ideas surrounding institutions like the family, education, economy, law and government and culture.
