US Senator claims China used an electromagnetic weapon to literally MELT Indian soliders.

During the nomination hearing for Sergio Gor, who has been nominated to be the next US Ambassador to India, a senior American lawmaker made a rather sensational and ludicrous claim about the clash between India and China at the Galwan Valley in 2020.

Bill Hagerty, a Republican senator from Tennessee, who meant to ask Gor how he would deal with the complex strategic relations between the US, India, and China, claimed that Beijing had used an "electromagnetic weapon" to "melt" Indian soldiers in a border conflict five years ago.

“China and India have a long history of grievances and distrust. Barely five years ago, China and India were fighting over a disputed border, and China used an electromagnetic weapon to literally melt Indian soldiers,” Hagerty said, before adding a non-sequitur about how international relations run deeper than photo-ops.

Hagerty's statement, which was not corroborated by any evidence and said in the strangest of contexts, stands atop the many examples of staggering misinformation and sheer nonsense that may come out of a US senator's mouth at any given time.
