A young life full of potential / In the palm of His hand / Give children roots and wings
The gift of babies is a wonder beyond all reckoning. When we see them in our hands, we mull over what scripture asks: “What will child turn out to be?” Luke1:66

We hear this people’s awe-filled question about the infant John the Baptist. This wonder echoes in the heart of every parent, every guardian, looking at a young life full of potential. The sacred text gives us the answer: “the hand of the Lord was with him”.
This truth is for every child. The Lord’s hand is not a force that controls, but a presence that guides and a love that blesses. It is the same hand of Jesus, that reached out to welcome the little ones, saying, “Let the children come to me”. As parents, our sacred task is not to dictate our child’s future, but to cooperate with that divine hand. We are called to give them both roots and wings—roots firmly grounded in God’s Word, so they know His voice, and wings to follow Him wherever He leads, even if it is beyond our own dreams for them.
We bless them by speaking life and identity over them, declaring, “You are loved. You are God’s good gift”. We trust that the Lord who began a good work in them will be faithful to complete it. For in the end, a child’s greatest destiny is to turn out to be who God created them to be: His beloved, forever held in the palm of His hand.
