Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport 45 First Drive - A GTI Turned Up To 11!

Hello guys, and welcome back to Car Obsession. Can you believe it, the Volkswagen Golf GTI has now reached the fine age of 45. To mark the occasion Volkswagen has launched a special version of the Clubsport version, aptly named the Clubsport 45. Standout features include 19” ‘Scottsdale’ alloys, an increased top speed of 166mph, LED matrix headlights, progressive steering, and a fruity Akrapovic exhaust system. Is it any good? I had a quick go in one to find out.

Like the Cupra Leon featured in my last video (   • Cupra Leon First Drive - A Composed B...  ) the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport 45 is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 300hp and 400Nm of torque. Just like the Leon, power is fed to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG.

Despite this, the Clubsport is a bit slower to 62mph (5.6 seconds compared to 5.3) but the top speed is higher. Thanks to the speed limiter being removed, the top speed is 166mph, not 155.
