It’s Christmas time! I hope that this holiday season is bringing you a fresh wave of love, joy, hope, and enthusiasm for the story that the Lord is writing.

Just last week, I was invited to speak at Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, CA. As the last official Chapel Speaker of the year, the 800+ students at Christian Unified Schools heard “A Talk With My Younger Self: 5 Lessons I Wish I Knew Back in School”.

Of all the things I wanted to share, the biggest lesson that I had to convey was that God—not ourselves—is the Author of our story. It says in Proverbs 19:21 that “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” That statement can be difficult for the competitive athlete, the control freak, or the worrywart to hear, but it can be incredibly freeing for the Christian. I pray that God will richly bless you this holiday season.

May your time, thoughts, and relationships bring you great joy, and may God reveal His plans for you like only He can.
