• You can use Klarna to defer payments on groceries
• And you’re sold an iPhone for $29.99 today and $1600 later

But a regulated financial instrument is what we choose to call a scam?
Most people asking me about reverse mortgages don’t actually understand how they work.
They just know someone told them it’s shady.

So here’s what’s actually true 👇
❌ Interest rates are NOT 3% higher.
✅ They’re often similar, or even lower, than traditional mortgage rates.

❌ Default rate isn’t 10x higher.
✅ It’s about the same as a regular mortgage.

❌ Closing costs are NOT double.
✅ Yes, they’re a little higher (3–4%), but not outrageous. That’s because of mortgage insurance that protects you.

And no:
❌ You don’t lose your home.
❌ Your kids aren’t saddled with debt.

If you still want to believe the fear tactics, that’s up to you.
Keep your equity on the mantle piece.
Let the kids cash it in for a Tesla truck someday (if Teslas are still around).
