The M103, just like the British Conqueror, was a (slightly rushed) response to the Soviet Union's newest heavy tanks following the Second World War. Fearing an escalation in Korea or a full-scale Soviet invasion into West Germany, America adapted it's existing super-heavy tank designs to create the T43, the 120mm armed behemoth that would evolve into the M103. M103 was one of the most formidable vehicles ever to enter service, but was proved to be obsolete within 10 years, replaced by a new generation of vehicle.
