Chinese Zinc Impact Sprinklers - compare

These are zinc sprinklers with the exception of the one Rain Bird 25 which is brass. The whole idea here is to make the basic comparison with the different models that have the same design, but in their own way slightly different.

The ones in the front row are well worn out and it shows. The green ones like the relatively new one on the stand are Orbit models. The model number does not matter, I am telling you here do not buy them unless you accept the fact that the zinc will wear out like you see in the video. Even the one that I put the strap on to lift the arm up some, works fine in the forward direction but the tail end area where the arm hits the reverse mechanism is worn out as well. It actually looks like it is bent. That one will work in a full circle just fine, just know what you are buying.

I have some un-branded models in the back row that work ok as they are new. The one I may have lightened the spring tension a hair too much, otherwise it works just fine. The one with the larger square tail end actually works best with a valid anti-backsplash design. In general, whether you purchase the Orbit or even a Melnor like these, I am warning you here, DO NOT BUY. The un-branded models may be cheaper, but you are not getting any better of a deal than the name brands. If you need them for a full circle environment where you have a lot to water, they will serve you well for that, but expect nothing more.
