We rolled into the ghost town of Dragon, Utah, expecting silence and ruins—but instead, we found mule deer roaming like they still owned the place.

Two bucks climbed the sandstone cliffs above the crumbling foundations—one a proud 4-point standing against the skyline, the other lopsided and wild, half regal, half ragged. Soon, a herd of does and a couple smaller bucks appeared from the canyon floor, heading up the ghost town cliffs like spirits passing through time.

When the deer vanished into the junipers, we turned our lens toward the ruins: rusted cans, shattered glass, and a weathered gravestone marking Juan B. Trujillo, the last soul laid to rest in the Black Dragon Cemetery.
