The second release on Phonique’s new label Zatar Music comes from Jordanian duo Fairplay: a gorgeous, deep, melodic house cut inspired by their local heritage and featuring vocals from Sahrawi singer Mariem Hassan.

Bringing a modern perspective to nomadic-style music, Jordanian alternative duo Fairplay intricately weave musical textures, with their music characterized by an eclectic, deep, and unpredictable approach. Releasing on labels like Kindisch, Stil Vor Talent and Bar 25 their approach favours organic sounds, often focussing on the trippy and the obscure, to create deeply layered, spellbinding productions.

Formed by Faisal and Fuad who met in their native Jordan before moving to study in the UK and USA, the duo started out promoting their Kollective Music parties, which welcomed electronic stars like Phonique, DJ T., Subb-An and Mihai Popoviciu. Buoyed by the success of these events they formed Fairplay and started Djing and producing together.

From the very start the music they made had always been deep, unpredictable and evocative, with Fairplay often incorporating Middle Eastern and Arabic sounds and instruments into their productions. Now Fairplay enter a new chapter of their sound with the release of Latlal.

Inspired by their rich cultural heritage, they combine their trademark hypnotic melodies, with an evocative vocal sample, resulting in a track that embodies their message of staying true to ones roots while simultaneously being an entirely modern slice of melodic house.



On the remix, longtime collaborators Anturage & Alexey Union bring their own unique flavour to Latlal. Harnessing the uplifting power of Hassan’s vocal sample, they steadily build layers of percussion and synthlines, creating a crisp, progressive cut that patiently builds the tension.
