This fourth session looked at the role of trade and commerce in the ongoing rivalry between the United States and China, including such issues as trade protectionist measures, sanctions, and structures and agreements. The extent to which Canada and the US can establish common economic strategies against China will be the focus.

This conference was held on May 10, 2024 in collaboration with the Wilson Center to host “Canada, the United States, and an Ascendant China”, the second conference in the Slater Family US-Canada Policy Series. Through discussions covering security, avenues for international cooperation, trade, and human rights, the conference highlighted strategies for addressing China’s rise on the world stage.
