The Hijacking of LOT Flight LO165 to West Berlin

Hello everyone and welcome to the Weird, Scary and Horrible Parts of Humanity!

Today we are looking at a pretty strange case, the hijacking of LOT Flight LO165 by East Germans Hans Detlef Alexander Tiede and Ingrid Ruske in a desperate bid to escape East Germany.

We will analyse the motives of Tiede and Ruske, the events that transpired on 30 August 1978, the unprecedented convening of the United States Court of Berlin and how life for the duo turned out not to be all that rosy in West Berlin.
