What Do We Mean by "Uterine Cancer"?
When I talk about uterine cancer in this video, I’m referring specifically to endometrial cancer—the cancer of the inner lining of the uterus. This is the most common type of uterine cancer.
What I’ve Observed in My Patients
In my experience, more than 50–60% of women with endometrial cancer are overweight, have poor cholesterol levels, and also suffer from diabetes. This pattern is too frequent to ignore.
What Research Says:
Research clearly shows that diabetes and endometrial cancer are directly connected. Women with diabetes have a 1.5 times higher risk of developing endometrial cancer compared to non-diabetic women. That’s a medically significant increase.
How Diabetes Triggers Cancer?
Diabetes means your body either doesn’t produce enough insulin or doesn’t respond to it properly. This causes sugar levels to rise in your blood and tissues. Over time, that leads to chronic inflammation across various tissues. That inflammation creates an internal environment that supports cancer formation—especially in the endometrium.
Not Just Cancer—Complications Too
Diabetes doesn’t just increase your risk of getting endometrial cancer. It also increases complications during treatment. So, diabetes can impact both the development and management of the disease.
The Bigger Problem: Metabolic Syndrome
Most patients I see don’t just have diabetes. They also deal with obesity and poor cholesterol levels. This combination is called metabolic syndrome, and it amplifies the risk of many cancers, not just endometrial.
Can You Control This Risk?
You can’t change your age or genetics—those are irreversible. But diabetes is different. You can control it with lifestyle changes, medical treatment, and regular monitoring. If you manage diabetes properly, you automatically lower your risk of developing endometrial cancer.
How to Take Control?
Eat healthy. Stick to a diabetic-friendly diet. Take prescribed medicines. Keep your weight in check. Exercise regularly. These steps reduce inflammation and help your body fight off cancerous changes more effectively.
