These mics are great for eliminating external sounds just by the fact that they are close to your mouth.

They're not studio mics but a solution to a problem. The idea is to get the audio over clearly, in spite of there being a lot of sound or noise around you.

They also free you up to move around which is why they are used often by singer/dancers but they can also be used for demos where you need two hands and clean audio.
