How to Install Xcode 8.3.3 Side by Side with Xcode 9

Описание к видео How to Install Xcode 8.3.3 Side by Side with Xcode 9

Watch how to install multiple Xcode versions at the same time (i.e.: Xcode 8.3.3 along side Xcode 9).

In the off chance that you can't update your project to Xcode 9 (Swift 4), you can still upgrade to Xcode 9, and then download a second copy of Xcode 8.3.3 to run side by side.

Simply rename the downloaded copy of Xcode to "Xcode 8" and then copy it into your Applications folder.

Download Xcode 9 from the App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/xcode...

Download Xcode 8.3.3 from Apple's Developer More Downloads page: https://developer.apple.com/download/...

WARNING: If you're doing this for converting older Swift 2 projects, you're going to be better off manually converting them with Xcode 9.

Xcode 8.3.3's conversion process was super buggy with a simple app I had created in Xcode 7.

Xcode 8.3.3 totally crashes when I try to update the UI and get the app working . . . so I switched back to Xcode 9 where I was able to quickly get the app working again. Plus I didn't have rendering issues with Storyboard.

Even though Apple recommends using Xcode 8.3.3 to update old projects, I would ignore that in Xcode 9 and just do it manually. It'll save a lot of time and frustration with a slow "update" process. And I don't think I could sit through doing that 2x, once in Xcode 8.3.3 and then once in Xcode 9.

I attempted to update an older Swift 2 project to Swift 3 . . . thankfully Xcode 9 has support for Swift 3 (3.2), so I could just transfer the project over after the Xcode 8.3.3 conversion.

If you are going to update a project, make sure it's backed up with Git version control, or Xcode will screw up your only working version!
