🤔 Why does fasting blood sugar decrease slowly?
The reason fasting blood sugar decreases gradually is that blood sugar levels do not remain constant in the body. Our body follows a circadian rhythm, and this internal clock resets around 4 AM. This reset allows the pancreas to capture the circulating insulin and clear the blood sugar. As the liver pulls in this insulin, the pancreas starts pumping fresh insulin. This process doesn't have a significant impact on blood sugar levels. However, in diabetic patients, the pancreas is weakened. While the liver continues its function of pulling in the excess insulin, the pancreas fails to release fresh insulin. This leads to a decrease in insulin levels in the body, while the level of glucagon, which is insulin's opposite, increases. Glucagon then converts the fat stored in the liver into sugar, releasing new glucose into the bloodstream and causing blood sugar levels to rise.
👉🏻 Now we talk about how to gain weight if you have diabetes
Then first of all, to determine what someone's ideal weight should be, we will refer to the Diabexy EGL Book, which contains a BMI chart. From there, we can find the ideal weight.
For example, if someone's weight is 68 kg, according to the BMI chart, their ideal weight should be between 55 kg and 78 kg. So, if their weight goes below 60 kg, they need to gain weight. Currently, there is no need to worry about their weight.
