A boat in the water. The contestants are fed from the boat which sails beside them. Sam Shields representing Miami, Florida, wins in record time of 8 hours 35 minutes and poses. ( Note: Sam Shields, reportedly a native of Louisville, KY, was a top competitive swimmer in his college days with the University of Miami.) Location: New York United States. Date: July 27, 1930.
