Since coming to power (2022), Captain Ibrahim Traoré has put forward a development agenda focused on economic sovereignty, value addition, infrastructure, agriculture and social welfare. Some of the major initiatives and achievements include:

Solar Energy at Donsin
New International Airport ‒ Donsin

Industrialization of Agriculture / Agro Processing:

Tomato factories:
Tomato processing plants have been launched to reduce dependency on imports and to improve local value addition.

Cotton processing:
A second cotton processing plant, and a national centre for artisanal cotton transformation have been started.

Distribution of agricultural equipment:
Tractors, motor pumps, tillers, etc., to farmers. Crop production (millet, rice, tomatoes) has increased.

Gold Sector Reforms:
First gold refinery opened, to process raw gold domestically instead of exporting unrefined.

Nationalization or increased state control of gold mines such as Boungou and Wahgnion.

Cement & Building Materials

Financial Sovereignty:
Launch of the Postal Bank of Burkina Faso with capital injection to help reduce reliance on foreign currency systems etc.

Infrastructure:
Roads, Airports, Housing
Road construction / upgrading, city paving, interchanges, inter city connectivity improvements.

Social housing:
Initiatives for housing, especially for displaced persons, to address shortages.
